Russian middle names are different than most naming conventions.
Although there are many beautiful Russian names for a girl and many great Russian names for boys, the middle Russian name is an exciting deal. It comes with an indication of whether it is a male or female name.
In a Russian middle name, a father’s first name is of paramount importance. This is because all the Russian middle names are patronymic.
To obtain a middle Russian name for a child, the father’s name is taken, and certain suffixes are added to the end of that name.
These suffixes are ‘ovich’ or ‘evich’ for boys (male patronymics) and ‘evna’ and ‘ovna’ for girls (female patronymics), not to be confused with ‘ova’ a female suffix for last names. Thus, Russian boy middle names end in ‘ovich’ or ‘evich’, and Russian girl middle names end in ‘ovna’ or ‘evna’.
These names that end in ‘ovich’ or other prefixes mean the same thing; either son or daughter of the patronymic name.
When the Russian boys’ names and Russian girls’ names combine with these middle names, they create the perfect Russian names for girls and boys. So, without further ado, let’s take a look at this list of numerous middle names for boys and girls of Russian origin.
